Gruber Röschitz Ried Mühlberg, Grüner Veltliner, Weinviertel Reserve, Niederösterreich, Austria 2019

Regular price £25.49

Gruber's top cuvee, Grüner Veltliner from a single vineyard site (Ried) named Mühlberg - complex minerality, fine fruit, balanced with huge length

Mühlberg was planted in 1968, south facing with granite soils, at 300m.

Gruber Roschitz is a pioneering winery in the Weinviertel wine-growing region of Niederosterreich, and has given new impulses from which the whole region benefits. Its focus lies in the perfect interaction between "inside" and "outside", between vineyard and cellar, parents and children.

The 60 year old vines are grown on primary rock soil. The hand picked grapes are harvested at the end of October. After fermentation the wine rests on the fine lees for 6 months including 2 months in 2.000 litre Manhartsberg oak barrels.

Tasting Note: The multi-layered bouquet offers nuanced mineral notes, crisp apple and stone fruit with a dash of apricot. The palate is textured with flavours of yellow apple and delicious salty notes which linger on the finish.

Critics: Falstaff: 94 Points (2017), Decanter 90/100, Jancis Robinson 16/20 (average producer score), Hugh Johnson - Recommended 'esp Mühlberg'
