An ancient grape expressing the incredible terroir of Puglia, exotic but with lovely acidity
The name Malvasia is derived from the Greek port Monemvasia, through which so many rich dessert wines passed en route for western and northern Europe in the Middle Ages (the famous Malmsey wine... see the Duke of Clarence).
Tommaso Rubino started the Tenute Rubino project in the 1980's. A firm believer in Salento's potential, he set out to acquire a substantial production area and succeeded in securing four estates with the goal that each would show Salento wine at its very best. In 1999, son Luigi and wife Romina Leopardi formed Tenute Rubino with a brand new winery and headquarters in Brindisi. The four estates, Jaddico, Marmorelle, Uggio and Punta Aquila stretch from the Adriatic coast to the hinterland of Brindisi in Salento, Puglia.
Tasting Note: A beautiful light straw yellow colour with green nuances. Delicate bouquet of mango, banana, peach, grapefruit and orange blossom. Smooth and persistent on the palate with fresh acidity.
