La Chablisienne Chablis Sereine, Burgundy, France 2014

Regular price £21.99

A classic Chablis from the award winning  La Chablisienne co-op. Textbook flavours and quality.

La Chablisienne was founded in 1923 as a cooperative winery to help several local growers market their wines. Originally focusing on sales, the house later took control of the winemaking process, which it manages to this day. The vineyards of La Chablisienne are predominantly Kimmeridgian soil, with small oyster shell deposits found in the limestone. They produce approximately 30 different wines for the appellation as a whole, each a different expression of the unique terroir of Chablis. La Chablisienne was named French Wine Producer of the Year 2016 at the International Wine & Spirits Competition. This followed their International Wine Challenge success in 2015, with winemaker Vincent Bartement being awarded the Best White Winemaker of the Year trophy for the second time.

Tasting Note: Very light colour and with a greenish hue. On the nose, there are aromas of white flowers and after light aeration, mineral aromas. It has a rich, slightly buttery style on the palate – typical of a vintage with good ripe fruit. The very mineral, slightly chalky, finish has a subtle touch of bitter almonds.
