Exciting fruit driven dry white from Romanian grapes - well made, aromatic aperitif.
Alamina's intention is to showcase the very best of what Romania can offer. Premium, indigenous varietals's such as Feteasca Neagra from Recas' best vineyards and Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio from carefully selected bunches of grapes. As you walk through the rolling vineyards of the 700 hectare Cramele Recas estate, two things are inescapable. The first is the scale of the transformation that Englishman Philip Cox and his wife Elvira have managed to achieve, replanting 700 hectares of decrepit vineyards and replacing them with immaculately tended sites the equal of anywhere else in the world. The second is that if you didn't know where you were, you'd be convinced you were in Tuscany or any other "Classic" wine producing region.
Tasting Note: A lovely citrus/pineapple character with a hint of white-pepper like spice. The lively fruit salad continues onto the palate which finishes with a very slight touch of sweetness and a slight grippiness, which is unusual in white wines, but a typical part of Feteasca Regala.
