Benchmark Chianti Classico - Volpaia is the touchstone by which all other Tuscan wines are judged.
There's a refinement and simplicity about their Chianti which owes much the altitude of this ancient estate and the talented personalities involved: Giovanella Stanti, husband Carlo Mascheroni and eminent consultant oenologist Maurizio Castelli. This fine vintage is substantial yet elegant with appetising aromas of plums, raspberries, red cherries and chestnuts. Delicious with meaty pasta dishes. Contains Sulphites.
Tasting Note: Cool, savoury cherry fruit on the nose with minerally hints and tangy cherry fruit with a touch of new oak on the palate. Plenty of grainy tannins and still quite unsettled, yet long, tannic and with real depth.
