A traditional and well loved Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux at a great price
Located in the heart of Haut-Médoc in exceptional terroirs close to St Estèphe and Pauillac, Château Cissac is still managed by a direct descendant of the original owners: Marie Vialard. Following Médoc tradition, the vineyards are mostly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Chateau has over the years built a reputation for crafting traditional Bordeaux at a great price.
Tasting Note: Deep crimson. Smells of sweet, small dark wild berries and blueberries - inviting - and a touch of oak sweetness. Tighter and fresher than I expected on the palate. Juicy but firm. Dark and dry. Middle of the road but in balance.
Critics: Jancis Robinson 16.5 (2016) 90 James Suckling: "Another very good Haut-Médoc with ripe red fruits, some real concentration, moderately dry tannins and crisp acidity. Enjoy now or at any other time during the next few years!"
65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot
