Mouthwatering Bordeaux blend, balanced and moreish at a great price
Made from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc (50/50) grapes grown to the South West of the town of Bergerac vinified to ensure that the wines are particularly soft yet not lacking in body.
A beautiful 38 ha estate to the south-west of the town of Bergerac, located on the edge of the Dordogne. Chateau des Eyssards is owned by Pascal Cuisset, who is one of the most innovative young winemakers in the region. Pascal is passionate about his wines and believes that while technology can be extremely useful in winemaking, it is the physical labour and intuitive skills of a winemaker that really count.
Tasting Note: Deep, dark plum. Dark fruit, plum, spice, licorice on the nose. Mouthwatering fruit, good attack and balanced tannins. Lots going on, lovely, solid fruit on palate. Very pleasing and could be enjoyed through an evening, after a brochette or grilled lamb
Critics: Andrew Jefford “If I had to tip one winegrower for future greatness it would be the uncompromising Pascal Cuisset of Chateau des Eyssards.”
