A very serious table wine from the classic Port grape Touriga Nacional - complex, cedar notes, huge flavours and great length.
Real Companhia Velha is the oldest and most emblematic wine company in Portugal, having recently celebrated over 260 years of existence and uninterrupted activity in the production of Port Wine. Founded in 1756 by the Royal Charter of D. José I, King of Portugal, the importance of this Ex-Majestic Company was seen as being a valuable service to the community. At some of best Quintas in the Douro, they have been able to preserve and honour the tradition of winemaking while investing in the future, with constant modernisation and experimentation at their vineyards.
Tasting Note: The subtle vanilla and toast aromas have combined beautifully with plum fruit to evolve into an extraordinarily complex nose: deep blackcurrant flavour, cedar, cigar. Similar flavours ride on top of a well balanced palate that has firm but mature tannin, very full body and a cleansing mineral acidity.
