6 Bottle Mixed Case showcasing our range of Spanish Reds and Whites from North West Spain
Galicia and the North West have become a source of fine wines in the last twenty years, with a new generation of winemakers improving and innovating, but also rediscovering grapes on the verge of extinction.
Green, lush and wet, Spain’s Galicia doesn’t really resemble the rest of the country. Atlantic rains and the huge fish-filled estuaries, called rias, dominate the west coast, giving it an almost Scottish feel. The pilgrimage site Santiago de Compostela is its main attraction, the third holiest site in Christendom after Jerusalem and Rome, drawing the faithful and the curious from across Europe for centuries. Albarino is the quality grape here.
Inland in Castile y León, on a high altitude plateau sit the superb wine regions of Bierzo, Toro and Ribeira Sacra. Mencia and Tempranillo power the reds, with golden Godello producing complex burgundy-like whites
