Intense Assyrtiko from the leading lights of winemaking on Santorini - fabulous
Established in 1996 on vineyards abandoned after the 1956 earthquake, the late Haridimos Hatzidakis brought the experience of being Boutari's chief winemaker to Santorini. He put Santorini Assyrtiko on the map as a unique, unforgetable, fine wine.
Stella Hatzidakis has taken over her father's huge legacy and presents her first label, Familia. With the first priority being the harvest of top quality grapes, Santorini Familia 2018 is an outstanding quality wine that represents brilliantly the unique terroir that is grown in. All the grapes come from the extended family's vineyards across the island.
Tasting Note: Bright yellow color with lemon and white flowers nose. Smooth and aerial on the palate with a gentle and refreshing acidity on the finish. Matches well with shellfish and fish plates in general, green salads, asparagus white sauce meats and cheeses from Cyclades complex. Better served at 12-14˚C.
