Ancient grapes refined by modern wine-making, resulting in an exciting taste of 6000 years of tradition
Kataro is made by Grigor Avetissyan who is effectively the leader of the Karabagh winemakers and largely responsible for the Karabagh wine-festival every Autumn. From very small beginnings he is building a first class reputation for the authenticity of his wines.
Domaine Avetissyan is located on a picturesque hillside in a lush region of Hadrut in the Republic of Nagorno Karabagh (Artsakh). Named after an ancient church located in the village of Togh, Kataro is produced from Khnodgny (also known as Sireni) an indigenous grape variety. Modern wines from a truly ancient wine-growing region. Every Autumn the Artsakh wine festival takes place nearby which is a wonderful gathering of local people and international wine lovers!
Tasting Notes: The deep red colour of this wine is combined with the intensity of dark berry and ripe red fruit aromas, further enhanced by the mouth filling medium long finish.
