The mysterious Kadarka grape produces a wine of dark ruby colour, with complex black pepper, cherry jam and spice flavours.

Koch Csaba, better known to his friends as Chubby, studied biology and viticulture after inheriting a few vines from his grandfather in 1991. Since then, he and his wines have gone from strength to strength, winning numerous national and international awards culminating in being awarded 2014 Winery of the Year in Hungary. Located in Hajós Baja, Koch's attitude to winemaking is a truly hands-off approach, encouraging wildlife and plants to make their home around his winery. Walking through his vineyards, you will find apple trees growing happily next to the vines creating a diverse habitat. His theory is, that with less intervention in nature's cycle, nature will take care of herself and the vines.

Tasting Note: This beautiful Kadarka vintage reflects the heat of the vintage and the richness of the black soils of Bácska. Fermented the traditional way and matured in oak to make it more velvety and structure the spice. A dark ruby colour, well balanced with complex black pepper, cherry jam and spice flavours.
