Really moreish Pinot Noir, with great fruit and lovely red berry aromas. Tremendous value.
Situated in western Romania just to the east of the town of Timisoara, Cramele Recas is a very impressive new winery on an old site. In the last 10 years, both the vineyard and winery have been completely, and exhaustively modernised in order to be able to fully control the production process using the latest methods. The winery has been fully fitted out with stainless steel , automatic temperature controlled tanks for fermenting and storing the wine. The primary vinification facility has been completely renewed with the best possible equipment for gently crushing, destemming, pressing the grapes- in order to be able to maintain all the quality in the grapes. Contains Sulphites.
Englishman, Philip Cox and his Romanian wife Elvira, have put in a huge amount of work into transforming their land into a modern winemaking haven. The results are outstanding wines that can stand shoulder to shoulder with their peers from around the world.
Tasting Note: Light, soft and welcoming nose of autumn fruits. Soft smooth & spicy flavours throughout with generous soft red fruit flavours & a lovely elegant finish.
Critics: Jancis Robinson 15.5/20 (2011), Tim Atkin “This is the first wine I’ve ever reviewed on this site from Romania, but it’s a gift to Pinot Noir lovers. Quite simply, this is the best cheap example of the grape in the world..."
Matthew Jukes, Daily Mail “Pinot Noir simply cannot be this good this cheap!"
