First growth Furmint from legendary Tokaji - this is Hungary's equivalent to a Grand Cru White Burgundy.
Made with fruit from the legendary first growth vineyard Mezes Maly, this is Hungary's equivalent to a Grosses Gewachs Riesling trocken or a Grand Cru White Burgundy; but without the price tag! Mezes Maly's characteristics are based around its translation as 'honey pot'. Its incredibly long and exquisitely balanced aromas and flavours combine the very essence of aszu wines.
Co-founded in Hungary in 1990 by wine writer Hugh Johnson, the Royal Tokaji Wine Company has become one of the most defining wineries in Hungary. From the outset, Royal Tokaji decided to concentrate on producing single-vineyard wines, made from the first-growth vineyards of Mezes Maly, Nyulaszo, Szt Tamas and Betsek.
Tasting Note: Mezes Maly's characteristics are based around its translation as 'honey pot'. Rich and layered with floral notes, spices and a silky texture.
