Explosive and aromatic white Moschofilero from vineyards in Mantinia at 600 m altitude
The Domaine Skouras was established in 1986. Over the years, it has created a disciplined, innovative and serious wine-producing presence. The company owns two wineries in the Peloponnese, in the well-known region of Nemea. Owner George Skouras studied wine making in Dijon, before returning and dedicating himself to exploring the potential of the famed Agiorgitiko grape.
Made from the most aromatic clone of Moschofilero, named Mavrofilero for its dark skins, but super pale in the glass so vinified with zero skin contact. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, and a short ageing over fine lees.
Tasting Note: Soft colour with a light shade of grey. Νose with high lift and complexity with aromas of roses, jasmine, lime, grapefruit and other citrus fruits. Of medium body with explosive acidity –full of taste and refreshing– with aromas of citrus flowers and tropical fruits. Complex and medium-length aftertaste.
Critics: Jancis Robinson 16.5/20 (2017), Decanter 89/100 (2018)
100% Moschofilero (Mavrofilero is a dark skinned clone of Moschofilero)
